Just made... a new experiment. I just bought another huge silver/bronze collection. It would take me forever to process all of them, so I'm making them available to NDC customers at a "Super Chunk" rate! Each big run (some complete, but many not) is priced to sell! These will be on sale in our Cranberry store starting 8-20. For one price, you get a giant amount of comics. So if you've been thinking of starting a new collection, come see what we have! And don't forget, you can ask us to fill in the missing ones with our search service.
New to C3.... We just sent down about 15 long boxes of fresh new back issues.
On sale in Ellwood... 17 boxes of all independent titles. Alos STILL adding more $1.00 comic each week. Recently, many have been bronze age.

I'm never sure if they are going to use it, but here's my market report that I submitted to Overstreet for this years' price guide :
Overstreet Market Report 2006/2007
Todd McDevitt
New Dimension Comics
It’s always a challenge to sit and try to sum up a year in one gulp.
So much happens, so fast. I’ve resolved to keep better score of
next years significant sales, etc. and make notes of insightful conversations
that I have at the closest-to-the-comic-con bar. That is where the real
genius musters up after all! So in the spirit of randomness, here are
my thoughts for the year. With that in mind, I always promise to myself
and to readers that I won’t go on and on about typical hot stuff.
Everyone else here will tell you in detail about how hot Giant Size X-Men
#1 or Amazing Spider-man #129 is. I’ll give you my 2 cents worth
from my little corner of the industry and try to stick with unique trends.
Speaking of… a little background seems in order. 2006 marked my
20th anniversary in the comic biz! I have 5 stores surrounding the Pittsburgh
area. I have been blessed with many adventures, some of which I have chronicled
in my own comic, which I will be happy to send to any curious reader.
I have always been fascinated by the difference in market conditions between
my area and when I travel. Things that collect dust here, fly for me on
the road. And vice versa. I often find treasures at other stores/conventions
that get gobbled up by my local clientele. Part of the fun….
CRAZY RARE DC REPRINTS - An interesting and unique trend that I must credit
to a voracious customer of mine named Clayton, who has my thanks for extra
insight here. He’s been on a quest for some time now for rare, low
print run DC titles. Sure, he’s been keeping up with the “RRP”
editions, but he’s mission has been to snag all the reprints and
variant editions of DC titles. By “variant”, I don’t
mean alternate covers in the modern sense, I mean Whitman reprints, cover
variations, value pack editions such as those made just for “So
Much Fun, Inc.”. In the course of plucking these issues from collections
that flowed my way, I have developed a sense of how rare they really are.
When was the last time you saw a 3rd printing of Justice League of America
#69. Or 3rd print on Supergirl #1. Funny story about that one... I have
been a member of the DC Retailer Representative Program (RRP) since it’s
beginning. At one meeting, I sat with a then DC VP who was unaware that
there was still, after a sold out 2nd printing of Supergirl #1, a need
for this book in our stores. Myself and the few retailers also at the
table seemed to convince him to go ahead and do a 3rd printing. I’m
sure when he did, it was the absolute minimum they could make. Other particular
rarities seem to be Superman Man of Steel #18 4th printing (DC made up
to 5th), Batman 491 2nd (DC made 3rd), JLA #11 2nd, Batman #397-432 multi-pack
editions (up to 7 prints made!) and apparently multi-pack editions on
Superman MoS 17-24 and Wonder Woman from the same era.
GOLDEN AGE - As always, I can’t get enough to keep the demand satisfied.
Quality and obscurity rule. Nice grades, but not 9.whatevers that make
them too pricey, sell promptly. One odd book that I sold recently was
Funny Stuff #22 = $75 with a cameo of Superman. I still have a super-rare
All-American Comics #16 in rough shape for $13,000. Way over “guide”,
but as a potential $20-25K copy restored, it doesn’t make sense
to sell it for the $7K that it grades at. BUT a restored copy is harder
to sell. It’s my current stance to not restore the book, but let
the final buyer decide it’s fate, even if they chose to resell it.
I think this is an interesting aspect of the hobby that goes largely ignored.
And there are certainly folks in these pages who make more of a niche
by buying low grade and restoring them for larger dollars in the end.
Read on!
SILVER AGE - High grade rules. Just sold a sweet Silver Surfer #2 = #175
and #5=$120. Seeing a lot of lookers for oddball stuff like Rex the Wonder
Dog, Ghost Rider (Western version), Rip Hunter, Angel and the Ape, etc.
I think some collectors who have their core interest are branching out
to titles that are easy to complete, many just ran for 5-10 issues, and
are still pretty affordable. Plus, they know that not too many people
are looking for them, so when they ask for a deal on a set of Metamorpho,
they know they are gonna get it! Another super rarity that commands high
prices are flawless copies of black covered books like Amazing Spider-man
28 & #60. True high grades get 5-10 times guide! On the same lines…
Marvel Tales #36 falls into the same category. MUCH black on the border,
a Spidey book, and for those who don’t want to spend crazy money
on ASM #28 or 60, this could be a real find. I recently got one in for
$60, while top guide is only $7. I think 2007 will see many later 60’s
books skyrocket. Every time I price an Iron Man & Sub-Mariner #1,
Captain Marvel #1, Cap. 100, I think “Wow—these are still
VERY affordable. That can’t last.”. Other minor keys seem
to be picking up interest, like Sgt. Fury #5 (sold for $75 in VG), since
they are affordable as well.
BRONZE AGE - lots of interest here! Lots still very accessible/affordable
even in high grade. These books are the investments of the future. Stuff
like Invaders #1, Inhumans #1, and keys that are already super hot (didn’t
I say I wouldn’t mention these?) like Werewolf By Night #32 and
Tomb of Dracula #10. One that kills me is Firestorm #1, 1st series of
course. This is the 1ST APPEARANCE OF FIRESTORM! I just sold one for $8.
That seems pretty low for a DC hero who has had several series. Even Claw
#1 has had some requests. This material is still findable in high grade
for prices that won’t take off arms or legs. I still feel many of
the filler issues from this era are very affordable as well. Like Captain
America 120-140, Hulk 125-145, Iron Man 15-35. Just clean, old comics
in these runs are nice and still accessible to the collector on a budget.
That makes the earlier keys go up as well since they will ultimately have
to backtrack.
MODERN AGE - Transformers started out hot, slowed down some, but are still
very strong. We did 3 exclusive covers last year and have sold most of
them out. The upcoming movie should spike it well since it’s had
strong nostalgic roots in the comics. Still a lot of interest in Miracleman.
We have special “Archive Editons” from buying out the Eclipse
files that are still in high demand. #15 sells for $95 easily. Dealers
are buying Amazing Spider-man #300’s from me at my full retail to
resell them in anticipation of the next movie. Speaking of… some
lookers early for Silver Surfer/Galactus stuff in anticipation for FF
II. It seems the best time to sell movie stuff is just when it gets announced.
Investors swarm and prices may boost a bit, but they nobody gets rich,
especially if the movie sucks. The New X-Men has been selling for premium
prices. Old horror movie comics like Jason, Leatherface, Nightmare on
Elm Street, Halloween, and Army of Darkness. Some of those fans are just
finding out they existed as comics and are backtracking, making them quick
sellers at good prices. Tarot back issues are tough to get and pricey
when I do. I just got in X-Men and Captain Universe #1. This was Marvel’s
unique personalized comic where you sent in your name and other info and
it was all included IN the comic… YOU save the world! The one I
got came with a serial # of 212. I’m thinking not a lot of these
got produced, making it a rarity for sure. Plus, each one is unique! And
who would ever sell it? Once that custom comic got made, even if they
were to sell off their whole collection, they would likely keep that one.

Back from the New York Comic Con! Crazy... Cool stories? Brushes with fame I guess. I went to the men's room and saw a crowd at the entrance. I feared it was the line to get in! No - They set up the cheerleader from Heroes RIGHT outside the men's room. I hope she can heal from the stench... Also, had dinner with Frank Cho, sat in a booth next to Garth Ennis, ran into lots of old friends. Always fun.
Comic news! We are getting in over 200 MORE longs boxes of comics today. Just when the warehouse was getting caught up... Speaking of... We are staggering in a new selection of stuff from the basement into the upstairs. A & B are done, working on the rest. This is part of a phase-out of the $1.00 sale that will take several months. Get your $1 stuff while you can!
February 14th, 2007
Happy V-Day! I'm sure being snowed in today will make the hospitals busier 9 months from now...
Anyway. Comic news. Just LOTS of internal stuff going on to evern further improve our back issue selections at most stores. Particularly Century III, Cranberry, and Ellwood. The other stores are pretty full at this point, but as always, ASK for what you need and we'll get it from one of the other locations.
Dollar store shift: In the process of making back issues, we are also shifting around the dollar sale in Ellwood. New selection for a while, then the dollar sale will be fading away. Get your kicks in while you can....
January 17th, 2007
I heard about a survey of the geekiest cities in the USA. Seems Pittsburgh is #7 and one of the reasons is the # of comic stores for it's populations. Wow. With 5 NDC's, I have to wonder if we helped Pittsburgh stay in the top 10.... Go geeks go!!!
Actual news : Century III now has 10 long boxes of Silver/Bronze Age at just $3.00 each - all SORTED. And $1.00 books on special will be returning a little at a time soon. Plus, the store has a new look. Check it out!
Butler has $5.00 TPB's now. And Chris too.
Ellwood's secret sale will still be open only to subscribers only who missed it. Shhhh....
In the works... A new Transformers Movie Prequel Comic Exclusive cover! Details soon, but maybe in a while since Hasbro is being VERY secretive with the art.
December 22nd, 2006
Merry Christmas!
December 14th, 2006
Toys! The latest batch of my buying spree has been mostly TOYS, statues, and such. Everything from current goodies like Rudolph to vintage Transformers (all in Butler). G.I. Joe Terrordome and loose figs in Cranberry. Lots of Buffy. Tis the season, so skip the BS at the big box stores and swing by NDC for all kinds of toy fun.

ANOTHER big silver age collection is now on display in Cranberry. Spidey 2-104, Giant Size X-Men 1, X-Men 94-142, many treats. Don't forget in Cranberry this Weds. = Meet Fables Hardcover artist Mark Wheatley. And if you buy your HC from NDC, he will do a sketch inside it for FREE! Our little gift to you... More Cranberry news... New set-up! Now our new shelf is even BIGGER! More able to serve your comic habit! Cranberry is also your spot for Toys for Tots drop-off. Plus we just got in hundreds of new toys, all under $15. Watch for Ken and his crew to visit you EARLY Friday morning...
Wow - lots going on in Cranberry! How about the other stores? Century III has over a thousand TPB's on special for just $5 each (many were $20-30!!). This sale won't last much longer. Coming Jan. 20th to C3... meet Sensational Spider-man and 4 writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
And in Butler? The back issues are bursting since we've added so much to them! Shop their best selection now! Some of the much silver age we have will be hitting them this week.
Ellwood? We've been adding stuff to the now all-sorted $1.00 sale almost every day (and we see guys like Paul here just about every day too to vulture it!). Inc. we have been adding titles from the mysterious basement stock. After Christmas, we will see about opeing it completely. If you want an update on that, please e-mail me to be certain you get notified. todd@ndcomics.com
McMurray? Still on the rise. Look for treat bags post Turkey-Day.
November 3rd, 2006
I wrote this a few months ago for Newsarama.com, but they didn't have space to run it. A little insight to a crazy-cool find that drifted my way....
One routine day of looking over
collections customers had left for me
to sell in my Western PA comic store, New Dimension Comics, I run across
a small bag of
Steranko books--mostly things I've seen before, a couple oddities, but
more
importantly a note saying this guy "knew Jim Steranko." Yeah, yeah, sure!!!
But
I call, explain that the batch left for me was OK stuff, but readily available.
He tells me he has some more, but it gets weirder. Of course, that just
fueled my curiousity.
Weeks later, he makes a personal visit with another pile. He started with
copies of Genii Magazine, a specialty publication for those in the magic
industry, featuring Steranko on the cover for his escape artistry and
card wizardery. Also a copy of a book, Steranko on Cards. While flipping
through the mags, Steranko's childhood pal pulls from his pocket some
of the
lockpicks created for his stunts.
Almost better than the next layer of items were the great stories of how
Steranko offered a standing challenge of $1000 to anyone who could produce
shackles from which he could
not escape. There are photos of Steranko in some of the rarest and most
imposing handcuffs and shackles—Palmer cuffs, Bean Giants, British Plug-Eights,
and steel McKenzie Restraint Mitts—including a pair of Lilly irons that
may have been used to restrain Abraham Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth.
There are also copies, clipped from a local newspaper in the mid-'50s,
of a Houdini
comic strip by Steranko. Best of all, I uncover a color drawing of a wizard-like
character. Wow! From the date of when this gentleman knew Steranko, it
clearly predates any of his comic book work. In chatting with Jim since,
he seems clear that he did it when he was 14 or 15 years old, possibly
while developing a strip called Carter The Mysterious. Could this be a
concept drawing?
For all its magic, I plan to keep the unique parts of this collection
intact and sell it as a unit. Any serious buyers may e-mail me at todd@ndcomics.com.
For me, I'll have another great story to tell about my adventures in the
comic book biz.
October 12th, 2006
HUGE NEW SILVER AGE COLLECTION IN! About 2500 books! Most early Marvels and up, but no huge keys. Spidey 11-98, X-Men 11-68, FF 16-130 = all in Cranberry right now along with some keys like Iron Man #1, Cap. 100, and many copies on Iron Man & Sub-Mariner #1 - destined to be a hot book since BOTH are slated for movies!. The rest, Hulk 102-150, Cap. 100-140, Tales of Suspense 45-99, Tales to Astonish 61-101, Iron Man 2-49, DD 11-75, and MANY more will be at our Ellwood City store getting bagged-n-tagged. Then they will all be in Cranberry on 10-18-06. E-mail we any special requests and I will send to any store you prefer.
October 4th, 2006
Wow. Sept. was slow! The only store that was hoppin' was Ellwood City. It seems now that the entire dollar sale is completely sorted that customers can find/buy a lot more. We have another huge inventory - too BIG to add to it - that we have been slowly folding into it, big titles only for now. I'm working on a solution to have it all in one place. Updates here of course!
This week : Butler gets $2 Silver/Bronze on sale. Ellwood still has 13-ish boxes of $5 Trade Paperbacks/$10 Hardcovers, but that's heading to Cranberry the next chance I get. Cranberry continues to get more and more back issues as we fill in the missing titles from a huge list we made. We are up to "N" I think going to Cran. this week. McMurray got some silver age last week - just a taste! Ask for special titles and we can send to any store for you to see.
Hiring! I need help! Mostly, I need folks who know comics real well and can spend some time in Ellwood. All those stock jobs pile up and I need help keeping up with them.

So much...
First, I'm heading to Akron for a show this weekend. I'm leaving early and buying all the way out there! Finding lots of searches for customers! And speaking of shows, I'm heading to the big one in New York City at the end of Feb.
I just bought out a warehouse full of mostly Marvel Metal sculptures. All soon to be tested on Ebay, but also all in the stores soon for CHEAP! We are only charging our customers about 25% what they originally sold for! Spider-Man Maximum Carnage, Wolverine, X-Men and FF pen holders, Thor, Psylocke and more!
Remember our super cheap Masters of the Universe Vol. 2 TPB deal? Well good news! Here comes Vol. I... for the same low price! Just $2! In most NDC's this week.
Our Transformers Beast Wars #1 Exclusive hits next week. And I've signed on to do even more later this year too! Our Infiltration #1 effectively sold out of 1000 copies in a week.
Wildly successful warehouse sale! The dollar books has been leaving in droves. Fir then first time ever, there's actually SPACE in the Ellwood City NDC. Don't worry, it will be filled soon. LOTS of collections on the horizon.
Jan. 26th, 2006
NDC exclusive Transformers Infiltration #1 is a hit! We already have an order for the REST of our inventory! I will hold off filling it until all of our loyal website customers are happy campers though. But be sure your copy purchased is a collectible printed well below it's demand. What that lesson from Econ. 101 about supply and demand? The moral : Pre-order your Beast Wars cover today!
Hey - we get like 300 hits on this site a day! I had no idea! I thought no one was listening. Please write me with what you'd like to see here.
Check out our new "WANTED" section. Very cool. We need stuff.
TONS of cool collections on the horizon. Save your $. It will hit hard and fast! ~Todd

Butler : Just bought a HUGE magic collection. Some will be sent to Cranberry and Ellwood this coming week, but most will be in Butler. Plus, Butler has been buying lots of other collections too. Come see!

Century III : The $5 silver age books will be swapped for the $3.00 stuff soon. Last call! And maybe not as soon... the $1.00 comics will be swapped out too. Dig in before they are gone!

Jan. 9th, 2006
I was looking forward to a little slowdown after the holidays. It lasted about 6 days....
First, we sold Amazing Spider-man #238,298, & 300 out of the Ellwood City Megastore for $1.00 each. Yes, stuff THAT good could be in there.
We have a big chunk of oddities coming in . See a full list under our "New This Week" section. You can also see there the list of Silver Age recently bought in our Century III Mall store.
Several big collections are being offered to me right now. Not sure which will pan out, but you can bet at least one will. One is 800 long boxes!!
Coming real soon will be a "wanted" link on this site. There, I will post our list of goodies currently needed for customers. We will be offering top $$$ in trade credit. Watch the list for anything you might have to trade in!
On the phone right now with 10,000 book collection! Bye! ~Todd
Jan. 3rd, 2006
It's Tuesday, our slowest day usually, at 12:15 PM, in Ellwood City. The day most people are back to work and there are 4 people shopping the $1.00 warehouse sale comics. Wow. I thought this might take more time to catch on. Guess not.
I just bought some nice old books. Amazing Spider-man 6, Conan 1, Special Marvel Edition 15 (1st Master of Kung-Fu, the best I've ever seen!), some nice 15-cent FF's, Hulks, more. All will be in Cranberry on Weds. About 100 books at least in all.
Hugs, ~Todd
Dec. 29th, 2005
NDC survived the Christmas rush! Now we are scrambling to restco all the goodies we sold. Look for expanding selection in all stores kicking in right away. And if you have any suggestions for what to carry, please e-mail me.
We are expecting a truckload of protective supplies in today, so our shortage of new boards is about to end. Don't forget you can buy these in bulk at the Ellwood City store at a savings.
We are gearing up for the Jan. release of our exclusive Transformers Infiltration #1. Just a few days left to get your shipped for FREE if you pre-order it.
The continuing $1.00 sale in Ellwood is going great. As I type this, I guy is there with a short box plus a stack! Open Mon-Sat. 12-7. No excuse to miss out!
That's it. Just a few random updates to keep the flow going. Happy New Year! ~Todd
Dec. 9th, 2005
BUSY! Busy getting the new Ellwood Superstore shaped up. Busy getting the new Cranberry manager up to speed. Busy lining up another NDC exclusive comic (announcement soon!). Buying tons of collections. Never enough time to write here... Let's go by store :
Cranberry : The rennovations continue as we expand the new shelf. Also, about 4000 silver age books are on sale for $3.00 each for a limited time. Even more limited, I just bought a big collection there and put most of it out for just $1.00. I left lots of good stuff in there. Better than moving it.
ELLWOOD CITY - Wow! This is a lot of space! We are going to re-organize the new shelf soon to make even more room for more titles. Lots of good back issues available. We are starting a new stystem where all the ones that are getting processed for another store will stay in EC for a week or two on sale. This means... EC has dibs on hot books! Come see the good stuff before it moves to another store (likely Cranberry). Oh yeah - and the Dollar Sale is open all the time now! Mon-Sat. 12-7. Some days we are open earlier too by chance.
Butler : I have not set foot in the Butler store in a coons age. Chris tells me they are selling things and that he is plotting some special sales/events for Jan. A Butler area artist has a comic coming out soon!
Century III - I haven'y been there since Sept. I hear they have some crazy deal if you buy a Masters of the Universe TPB...
Oh well, back to processing books here in the warehouse. Hi Natalie! Thanks for cheking in everyday! ~Todd
Nov. 15, 2005
It's been a solid month...? Really? Lot's going on...
NDC is Hiring! Biz has been great, but I can't get enough done. If you have a dream of playing with comics all day, please send me your resume. And I will also be hiring a management position soon as well.
I have been working hard to get the Ellwood store moved into the warehouse. It will become the NDC MEGASTORE! Inc. the Dollar Sale will be open all the time. More news here, but looking like soon.
Cranberry rennovations continue at a staggered pace. LOTS more space for EVERYTHING. I feel dumb for not doing sooner. It's gonna be sweet!
I just got back from the DC RRP meeting. A few secret nuggets got leaked. Flash, JLA, and Wonder Woman are all ending with a huge restart in 2006. They are doing a 52 issue WEEKLY series to fill the gap between I. Crisis and One Year Later (all the DC books jump ahead...uh... one year after Infinite Crisis ends). Lots more, but I'm not a news site, so I'll save it for my next post. Also got a tour of how comics are printing. Very cool.
Oct. 14, 2005
Way too busy to think to do this! If you read this and it's old.. E_MAIL ME a reminder...
I added about $5000 worth of TPB's to the Cranberry store this week. And more coming. Lots more improvements to come too!
Century III just bought more silver age :
Silver Surfer 5 6 8 9 10 11 14 15
Spectacular Spider-Man Magazines 1 2
Most of our Silver and Golden Age is in the Cranberry store right now and will be until Oct. 20th.
Sept. 15, 2005
Yeah - been busy again. We will have a mostly new crew of guys taking over the Cranberry store starting this weekend. Stop by and meet them and put them to the test! Also new to Cranberry as of yesterday is about 15 long boxes of comic sets. By the time you see them, they should be sorted too! The $5.00 soldies will be going on a road trip with me to Baltimore for a convention. When (If?) they return, I plan to get them to Century III as soon as I can. Cranberry will see some new silver age after that too.
Ellwood City has it's big Hometown Fall Fest this Saturday. The dollar sale will be open early at 10:00. Lots of extra bargains!
I bought a great Western collection. I have a full list if anyone wants it, e-mail me.
Well, I'm off to prep. for Baltimore. Also hitting the Diamond Summit. Never to old to learn how to run a better comic business! ~Todd
August 22, 2005
With the huge Gold/Silver stash we got in, we've had lots of ?'s about where it will be next. So here's the plan :
From Aug. 24th to Sept. 14th, over 5000 comics will be back at the Cranberry store at just $5.00 each. In addition, there will be about 700 new "real" priced oldies plus a bunch of treasury editions. A taste : Hulk 180, Capt. America 100, Avengers 2, Conan 1, Iron Fist 14, tons of great Thor, Amaz. Spidey, Avengers, and more!
Starting now, Butler features $3.00 Gold/Silver/Bronze. About 3000 of them!
At least 1000 old comics have been added to the warehouse sale. If we can work out a time to move them, they will likely be sent to the Century III Mall store. No date yet, watch here for details.
Speaking of the $1.00 sale.... I have a guy coming this week to shop it from... ENGLAND! Last week, we had folks from Cleveland and Canada. So if you are an NDC customer, isn't it time you made the SHORT trip to check it out??
August 16, 2005
5000 Gold, Silver, and Bronze age
comics will be at the Cranberry store this week
for just Weds., Thursday, and Friday until 2:00 for just $5.00
each. Stop by for best pickin's! They will likely be back the next week.
Unsure for now. Check back here for updates. These are mostly sorted, tons
of EVERYTHING. E-mail me with any specific questions. (FYI - I
told many of you 4000 books. I was wrong. Head hurts from processing
books! It's 18 full long boxes at least = 5400!)
Yes - there were "real" priced oldies too. About 600 of them will get new bag/board treatment and make there way to the Cranberry store as fast as I can get them ready. (Some on Weds. for sure!)
Butler will feature about 3000 comics at $3.00 each starting on Weds. also.
About 1000 new $1.00 oldies have been added to the dollar sale in Ellwood City.
And I still have lots more to wade
through. Beautiful Treasury Editions, vintage toys... Please e-mail
with any ?'s...
August 11, 2005
Ug. I'm beat. Let me tell you why. I've been moving a butt-load of comics around all week!
It started on Monday with the arrival of my latest buyout - Devil's Due Publishing's overstock. I knew I had more coming in the days ahead, so I burned though them, pulled what's needed for the stores, made sets, etc. That was 95 boxes.
Then onto Tuesday when I went to look at a HUGE collection that was surprising ALMOST 10,000 gold, silver, and bronze age comics. I couldn't haul them all, so a 2nd trip on Weds. plus some help from a friend with a van got the job done. I now have all the comics in the Ellwood City warehouse for me to process. Any one wishing to get "first crack" can e-mail me and I'll meet you in EC. It's total about 17,000 comics, 100 Big Little Books, Treasury Editions, posters, tons of cool toys (many vintage). I'll be working hard to get this stuff out to all the stores ASAP!
THEN, on my way home from the 2nd trip, I had another lead on a big collection, stopeed, looked, and bought THAT too! 28 long boxes there. These will be in the Century III Mall store early next week. Myn truck was full so I couldn't take them!
So for 4 days straight, I've been lugging massive amounts of comics around. And today, a truck is coming to pick-up 25,000 that I sold. I get to load those too! Next time you see me, please don't punch me in the arm 'cause I'm just a little tender....
When it rains it pours... I'm going to look at another collection of 90 boxes next week!
Oh - other stores news : Cranberry got in a HUGE loose toy collection. Must be hundreds of them! All good stuff, good shape. ~Todd

That said, there's not much to say anyway! It's summer. Lot's of great stuff coming out. Good to stay cool, read, play, etc. We just got in a truck (as in semi-truck) of comic protective supplies, some card items, and some poster holders (been requested!). We will have them dispersed amoung the stores this week. Also plan to sell them in bulk from the warehouse.
New collections in : Just got about 500 silver/bronze books. They are mostly cheapies ranging $1-5 depending on what store you visit.

Wow. Busy week! The Lisa Loeb signing went great! The toy show is...over. I bought some cool stuff (scattered in the stores now). Getting ramped up for the Pittsburgh Comicon. No wonder I can't get the warehouse cleaned out. Too much time on the road! Prepping to add some sale items to the website. Seems this internet thing is taking off....

Lisa Loeb is coming to NDC! This - ann my other news to follow - is off the beaten path, but I must assure you this is NOT an April Fool's Joke (I just got done telling Joel about this in Ellwood and he though that it was!).
Lisa Loeb - No relation to Jeph Loeb - will be appearing at our Century III Mall location on April 12th @ 7:00. She is best know for her great singing voice, but that voice also became Mary Jane on the MTV Spider-man animated series. Bring your MJ comics to have it signed or NDC will have some on hand! Our friends at FYE will be supplying copies of her latest CD, "The Way It Really Is" for sale at a special price of $15.
MORE NDC music tie-ins! I will be setting up at the Backstreet Boys concert in Pittsburgh to pawn the comic book they did with Stan Lee. I bought out Stan Lee Media and got all the remaining copies plus more goodies. Sorry girls, the BSB won't be in town long enough for an in-store appearance, but I tried... :(
Comics News - Cranberry now has 42 new boxes of back issues! See them soon for dibs! We will be shelling out some of the goofy old toys from all the stores soon to take to the Toy Show, so if you've had your eye on that Ewok Clock, you better snag it soon... ~Todd

Wow. If I skip a few days I have too much to type! Choppy sentences to follow...
I bought up a another store's worth of stuff! They were not clsing, but cuting way back on the comics, so... NDC has an additional 20-25,000 comics! Right now, most of the good stuff is on display in our Ellwood store. Next week, it will go to Cranberry. LOTS of good stuff in here. All sorted and priced and ready for vulturing! Also got lots of good new videos - all in Cranberry. Many boxes of overstock, much good, have been added to the $1.00 warehouse sale. Comic Sets - all in Cranberry.
I just got back from 2 cons in Columbus. I found lots of search books, so if you put in a request, you might just have a special book waiting for you!
The new Overstreet hit today and be sure to see my market report on page 82 and my sexy photo on page 1057.
All for now, ~Todd

First off, all that silver age I mentioned is sold. You snooze, you lose.
New comic news - We've been clamping down on our orders a bit, so be sure subscription is up to date with us. Don't want you miss anything, but...
...you can always ask us to search for anything you need. In fact, I'm hitting lots of other stores and shows real soon, so just let me - or you local NDC - know what you need!
Videos! We are putting some movies into Century III and Cranberry this week. Many more in Ellwood and Butler if you like obscure flicks. We have about 5000 in all! And I've got a solid lead on getting many more soon.
Promos - Butler has sweet Duel Masters hats that they will be doing a clever promotion with. Cranberry might too.
Odd request, but I'm desperate... Does anyone out there have a black wig? ~Todd

2 BIG Sales! Ellwood just got a spontaneous 25,000 comics for... 25 CENTS EACH! These are going to go fast and will be ALL gone by the March 10th. Really.
Cranberry is currently hosting an "Off The Wall" Sale! All Silver $ Golden Age books on our walls are only #10 each! Many were originally $40-50! Sale ends March 5th!
Speaking of Silver... I just bought another tremendous collection. About 600 great books. Runs of Iron Man, Tales to Astonish, Batman, Hawkman, X-Men #11-28, lots more. I'm going to try to sell these by the chunk, so please e-mail me in you are interested...
Hello boys and girls! I'll be presenting to the 3rd graders at Riverside this week on owning a comic business! Thanks Neal for sparking this tradition. Lots of fun!

Not much new to report. Just trying to survive winter.... A few notes though...
ELLWOOD - We will be starting a spontaneous 25 cent sale this week. Not sure exactly what day since it depends on when we can move the books in. It will be about 25,000 of them! The sale will run for just under a month. Ellwood subscribers should be aware that we are trimming our new shelf orders over the next few months, so please sign up for any book you know you want. It may not always be waiting for you on the shelf.
CRANBERRY - We are planning on a silver age sale. Details to come. Many back issues are being added every week still. Digging has never been more fruitful!
BUTLER - Many back issues are still being added each week. We are still processing ones that are needed and add them in all the time. Also, here's their weekly gaming events :
~ Magic Sat. 5-9
~ Yu Gi Oh Sat. 10-1
~ Wiz Kids - goto www.wizkidsgames.com and search zip 16001 for all events.
~ Legends of the 5 Rings - goto www.l5r.com, tournaments, and search zip 16001
Century III Mall - We are STILL growing this store! To help, I'm taking a more active role in getting them some new release comics that they run out of.
Dollar Sale - Still the coolest thing we do. If you buy comics, you must make at least one trip to check it out. Bring your refund check! Nick and Jason have been sorting every week and the comics get easier to find all the time!
Anyone have any ideas what we should drag out to the Pittsburgh Comicon this year? We are always wondering what is the right thing to bring.
Personal note : Just watched Dark City (written by David Goyer of JSA fame)... Eh.

Best intentions.... I was hoping to update this every few days. Trick is, when there is stuff to write about, I'm too busy DEALING with it to post. Here's some news:
Recent books: I spent the better part of last week leveling out the stock on the new shelves in each store. So if you missed a book from a few months ago and gave up on it (Shame - you should have asked us to search for it for you anyway!), it might just be tucked in that stack now. All stores even got some NEW titles that they never carried before. Spend a little extra time grazing the new shelves...
I just bought a sweet collection of X-Men #94-285 complete. They are all on sale right now at the Century III store. (Thanks James & Pat for putting them right out!) Also got a full run of the 1st Ghost Rider, planning to Ebay unless someone chimes in.
Today : I bought a nice stack of early Silver Batman. They are all in Cranberry, but you will have to ask for them. Trying to sell the whole stack for $200 before carving them up.
Dollarpalooza: I just added a bunch of recent books to the warehouse sale. Every Sat. 12-5. Also thinning out some of the bulky stuff from there this week. (Running out of room!). We moved in a about 100 more boxes, but have no landing zone for them!
Ellwood: I bought some new videos this week and added them to the $3 tapes on sale. Currently have about 2000. Another 1500 in Butler, same price still.
I guess that does it. E-mail me your thoughts. Cheers, ~Todd

Figures - I make a journal of my life and it's been pretty boring this week.... A big chunk of my time this week has been keeping up with the HUGE amount of Ebay listings we posted. We have tons of new sets, runs, etc. that we have been posting there. As always, NDC storefront customers don't pay shipping, so check them out! (link on this website).

Welcome to the NEW ndcomics.com! One of our new features is this, a journal of the extra fascinating life of Todd McDevitt! Seriously, NDC has grown beyond anything I ever dreamed, but that has come with it's fistful of hassles too. A big one has been that things happen SO FAST that it's impossible to get the word out to all of our customers. So, the goal here is to keep you updated. For example, and for starters, let me run through what's cookin' at each of the stores right now :
Cranberry - Has the most/best Silver and Golden age selection. Including 1000 "Pre-processed" oldies for just $5.00 each and a few bargain stacks (many issues of one title for one lump, deeply discounted price). New "wall books" have been added both behind the counter (just got a Tales of Suspense #39=$800) and the walls high above the new releases. We are still building onto the back issue revival from a few months ago with GREAT new books being added all the time.
Ellwood City - Recently got 2000+ video tapes in = $3.00 each. Just added: 7 long boxes of comic sets that are 75% OFF and 5 long boxes of blow-out trade paperbacks for JUST $2.00 each! The upstairs currently has some $1.00 back issues as well as a regular inventory that will be leaving soon for Butler.
Bulter - Just got 1500+ video tapes in. Also $3 each. This week is our sidewalk sale. Looks for cheap toys and comics. Your last chance to pick through the $1.00 selection since the recharged & reloaded stock will be making it's way back to Butler soon. Butler also has a huge assortment of comic sets. Also, Butler has the the full variety of a SUPER limited Transformers comic featuring hand-drawn sketches by the artist. Quite a sight! For Silver Age, Butler has many boxes at just $3.00 each!
Century III Mall - JUST IN! 4000+ Gold/Silver/Bronze comics at just $1.00 each! For years, we questioned opening a branch close to Pittsburgh, but it's now clear by the success of this, our biggest store, that Pittsburgh was hungry for NDC! If you haven't seen it yet, please stop soon! In addition to our largest selection of back issues available, they also have TONS of comics on special for $1.00 each. Ask for Demon Baby brand toilet paper too!
Dollarpalooza - This is our warehouse sale. It's, in my opinion, the coolest thing we do. 500,000+ comics. All $1.00 each. Every Sat. in Ellwood City from 12-5. Ellwood City is part of the United States and US currency is accepted. No drive is too far. I'm baffled why people would drive hours to get to a show, pay to park, admission, just to look for bargains. THEY ARE RIGHT HERE! Free parking. No admission. At least 4 times the comics at an average small show. Trick is that this is such good candy that the fans who DO come (and come BACK all the time) keep it their little secret! I promise that I have enough comics to go around...
I'll end with 2 promises. 1 - this will the longest entry ever. And 2 - I value your input. Please e-mail me directly with what you'd like to see on this site and stores. Heck - e-mail just to let me know that you read this. I need to know if there's anybody out there...
